In towns and cities across North Carolina, everything works the way it’s supposed to. The trash gets picked up. Water is sanitary. Emergency services respond. Parks are safe and clean. But have you ever wondered who makes all of it happen?
The answer is at the heart of a new brand campaign we created for Civic — a credit union built to serve the people behind the scenes: local government employees.
It’s easy to overlook what works until it doesn’t. So, we leaned into a simple truth: sometimes, the best way to show people how much someone matters is to imagine what life would be like without them.
A Tribute to Local Government Employees
From animal control officers and firefighters to water quality technicians and 911 dispatchers, this campaign shines a light on the essential workers who make daily life possible yet rarely get the recognition they deserve.
“We just expect everything in our daily lives to run smoothly. But the truth is, it only runs smoothly because of all these local government people who get it done,” says Sharvin Whitted, Art Director at Seez. “If anyone deserves to be celebrated, it’s them.”
Why It Matters for Credit Unions
Credit unions are built on community and Civic is living that truth. By putting their members, local government employees, at the center of their brand story, they are demonstrating appreciation in a way that goes far beyond customer service. It’s advocacy.
This kind of storytelling builds deeper loyalty. It connects the dots between financial services and real human impact. That’s something every member can take to heart and resonate with.
Watch for yourself:
The campaign is active now across digital, social, and broadcast platforms. It calls for appreciation, delivered with honesty, humanity, and a little bit of “what if.”
